THE CORNERSTONE OF THE RETREAT!
Complimentary beginners tutorial enables beginners to "hit the ground running"
and to get the most possible out of their time here.
Optional breakout classes can be purchased separately,
and include oodles of techniques suitable for all skill levels.

WE PROVIDE:
Stamps from a variety of companies for everyone to share.

Tool station which will include:
Air compressor and attachment for you to use with your own Copic sketch markers,
paper trimmer(s), ruler, ScorIt board, heat gun, pencil sharpener, some basic punches, etc.

We will provide stamp cleaner. Everyone is responsible for cleaning the stamps they use.

Final Class Line Up:
In most cases the actual cards made will be what is shown. However, we reserve the right to substitute similar scenes with the same techniques.
Pre-registration required. Class size limited to 8.
Ask for supply lists. Prepaid orders of supplies (before March 1st) get 10% discount.

Thursday 12:30 pm-2:00 pm (estimated time)

BEGINNERS ONLY. The basics to help you get the most value out of your time with us. Masking, scene building, materials, ink, repairing images. Lecture and demo. First time attendees only. You must pre-register for this class. No supplies required.

Quickscapes, 5 cards, $25
Thursday Afternoon, immediately following complimentary class.
3:00-4:30 (estimated time)

BEGINNER LEVEL. An absolute must for beginners. Cards, similar to what is shown, will be made with minimal or no masking. Techniques include scene building with and without masking, framing, the tonal applicator, stamping off and more. Supplies: tonal applicator, stylus and blending tip, detail scissors.

Slow Dry Ink Manipulation, 4 cards, $25
Thursday Evening (6:30-8:30 pm)

Use stipple brushes and slow dry ink to make rainbow backgrounds, and use slow dry ink with white blending tips to make blended backgrounds. Although this is an intermediate class, I am confident any skill level can participate. Repeated from prior retreat. Supply list: stipple brushes (5 or 6 recommended, any size will work, but we prefer #6 or #8), stylus handles with white oval blending tips, scissors, acrylic blocks.

Color Techniques, Components Only, $25
Friday Morning, 8:00-11:00 am

Class modified from 2 hours to 3 hours.
Because of the nature of this class, we may allow more than 8 participants.

NEW color technique class explores the use of various coloring techniques. The focus is on technique. Components will be made, but will not be assembled into finished cards. Prerequisite class for the following color technique classes, unless you are already proficient at one or more of the techniques. Beginner friendly.Techniques taught include watercolor pencils, color pencils with gamsol, Copic / Spectrum Noir alcohol markers. Supplies: alcohol ink pens (your choice, Copic, Spectrum Noir or both), professional grade color pencils and/or watercolor pencils, blending stumps and one water brush.

Color Technique Card Class:
Dog Gone Good Cards - 4 cards, $20
Friday early afternoon (est. 1:00-2:30)

Participants must have taken Color Techniques class or be experienced with one or more color techniques. A fun class and unique cards for all cat and dog lovers. Participants can use their favorite alcohol ink or color pencil technique to color the cards. Participants must have their own markers/pencils and related, scissors, adhesives, acrylic blocks.

Fun With Copperplate, 5 cards, $25
Friday late afternoon (3:00-5:00)

Participants must have taken Color Techniques class or be experienced with one or more color techniques. A fun class which includes both humorous and poignant cards. Participants can use their favorite alcohol ink or color pencil technique to color the cards. Participants must have their own markers/pencils and related, scissors, acrylic blocks and adhesives.

Vintage White, 4 cards, $25
Friday evening (7:00-9:00)

You will stamp on uncoated kraft paper, and color with white and black pencils. This is the technique that was featured in the holiday edition of Rubberstampmadness, which is a sold out edition. 4 cards include many images, masking, developing values, using contrast, defining highlights, shadows and creating a dramatic value scale. Supplies required: a black and a white professional grade color or watercolor pencils, large (4x6) acrylic block, scissors. Optional: stamp positioner.

Home On The Range, 1 card, $15.00
Saturday morning (10:00-11:30)

Home On The Range is a large scenic card. You will use coated cardstock, masking and many images to construct the scene, then ink pads and blending tips to insert color. Intermediate difficulty level, all skill levels welcome to try. Supplies: scissors, acrylic blocks, stylus handles and white oval blending tips, white jet pen.

Night On The Farm, Wide Version, $20.00
Saturday afternoon (1:00-3:00 time approx.)

This is an advanced difficulty level class, but all skill levels are welcome to try. This night scene has many images, sewn together with masking, and is colored in a monochromatic scheme with an emphasis on values and light. It is a large long scene, suitable for framing. Supplies: acrylic block, scissors, stylus handles with white oval blending tips, white jet pen.

Shaggy Moose, $10.00
Saturday, 4:00-5:00

This is a large 5"x7" card featuring some basic masking, coloring with ink pads and blending tips, and framing with the tonal applicator. Beginner friendly. Supplies: acrylic block, scissors, stylus handles with white oval blending tips, tonal applicator, white jet pen.

SECOND SESSION ADDED THE NIGHT BEFORE:
Saturday night, 7:00-9:00 pm

Winter Peace was a blue ribbon card in the professional division at the largest county fair in Illinois, and has been pinned and repinned on Pinterest countless times. This is being paired with the Best of Show (Purple Ribbon) selection. Both cards feature scene building/masking, and a generous use of glitter. Supplies: acrylic blocks, scissors, stylus handles with white oval blending tips, tonal applicator and Art Institute Dries Clear adhesive.
